Hannah Larsen, 8 year old student from Evangelical Christian School, collected $45.00 for months doing chores around her house and brought the dogs some treats to the animal shelter. She said she did this because she wanted to help the animals at the shelter. She went on a tour and saw some really sweet dogs and puppies that would love a forever home. She is pictured here with one of our new Beagle babies, Rudy. She promised to return for Kids Camp in the summer.

Professor Paws donated $100.00 and 35 cat boxes that were decorated by the Goddard's School Pre-School children to be used for the adoption of CAS cats and kittens. Professor Paws, INC, directed by Crystal Barker and Ona Cooper, is a non-profit agency dedicated to teach children humane education in the Memphis and Shelby County school system.

In the picture is Jon Cooper, CAS animal control officer, Crystal Barker, Nina Wingfield on the floor with Goddard School students and the owner Cathy Jo Espinola.

Dr.Kelsey and Beth White from Kelsey Canine medical Center present Nina Wingfield with almost $300.00 in donations from the center's calendar program and Peggy Foster Photograper sitting fees. We thank Dr. Kelsey and his staff for their continued support and friendship for our community's animal shelter.

Millie Mencke and Elizabeth Crane brought pet supplies donated to their 8th birthday party.

Maggie Hynek ( 1st grader ) and Grace Hynek and Kelly Henley (3rd grader) all go to Sycamore Elementary School. These girls went through the Whisperwoods Subdivision with flyers to ask for donations to help the animals at the shelter. The cat in the picture is Dallas, she is up for adoption.

Nov. 21st supply drive at Schnuck's on Byhalia.

Two truckloads of supplies were taken to the Collierville Animal Shelter.  Everything from food to bleach and white vinegar to kitty litter was included.  Additionally, over $200 (I believe it was about $263) in cash and gift cards were donated to CAS.  This was our 5th drive, and it was our most successful to date.

I want to personally thank Manager Gary Crowe over at Schnucks for his enthusiastic support.  It means a great deal to us and the shelter.

Mark your calendars....  we'll be back in Spring!

We had five adoptions from the Legacy Farms Adoption event. They also had money and food donated to the shelter.  What a wonderful partnership we have built together.

These are our dogs dressed for the RESCUES & RUNWAYS fashion show at Maurices on Sunday. CAS Volunteers, Meghan is holding Brooklyn, Mary is holding Rudy, I am holding Weston and Sherry Rout with ASPCA is holding Reggie. The cute fall wear was from PETCO.

Parker Massa asked for things for the animal shelter on his 9th birthday instead of presents. He is holding Jezzy, a beautiful black kitten available for adoption.

Instead of birthday presents, Luke asked for stuff for the animals here at the Collierville Animal Shelter instead of birthday presents.  His little sister, Logan, helped him buy some things with her own money she had been saving. The Singers adopted Cooper, the puppy from us in the spring.

Here are the models from Maurices holding our sweet animals for adoption on Sunday. They donated about $150 in food and donations to CAS.

Dear Ms. Farris,

Hello! My name is Laura Capooth, and I am the mother of one of the children who participated in the lemonade sale to benefit the Coll. Animal Shelter. The sale began Sat., Aug. 1, when my daughter Grace and her friends and neighbors, Lauren Clark and Tanner Williams, decided to have a lemonade stand at the end of our driveway (we live in the Wellington Farms subdivision). None of the adults actually thought they’d sell anything, especially when they priced the large cups of lemonade at $1.00!  But when people learned they were donating all proceeds to the animal shelter, the sales took off. Of course, the fact that those three were offering frogs they had caught in their backyards free with purchase surely helped convince some buyers! And yes, they kept a little bucket with five or six toads in it right there on the table to proudly show off! They were beside themselves when they ended their two hour sale with ten dollars and change! Well, on Sunday, the older kids had heard about the lemonade stand success and wanted to participate. They moved the sale to a busier corner and over the next three to four hours, sold another fifty dollars worth of lemonade! Their two-day total was $63.00…amazing! So, I’m sending a picture of all of the participants. They were so proud of what they accomplished and knew that they had made enough money to make a difference – hopefully – for the animal shelter. These kids love animals (several have participated in the CAS summer camps), and we are all proud of the good work the Collierville Animal Shelter does in our community!

Dr.Pope and his vet tech Katie from All Creatures Pet Hospital and the Dapple Daschund Daisey that was rescue. Daisey was rescued off the road with severe injuries, probably from an animal attack. Dr. Pope donated his services for Daisey’s surgery and she will go into foster care during her recovery. Thanks Dr. Pope!

The Kelsey Canine Medical Center donated $265 to the Collierville Animal Shelter.  Money was raised through the sale of our 2009 Dog Calendar featuring our own great patients.  This is the second year Dr. Kelsey has given the proceeds of the calendars to help the shelter.

CAS thanks Dr. Carr Kelsey  and all the staff from The Kelsey Canine Medical Center for their support and friendship.
