Position Summary: Maintain a shelf/section of the library in alpha/numeric order. Maintain accessibility, and appearance of assigned section of shelving. Major Responsibilities: Read spine labels and re shelf books that are not in the proper order. Shift books as necessary to assure easy access. Removes all bookmarks, paper and litter from books and shelves. Qualifications: Must be 14 years of age or older. Willingness to volunteer. Knowledge of alpha.numeric order. Ability to reach to top shelves and bend to bottom shelves.
Page Volunteer Department: Circulation Supervisor: Volunteer Coordinator Length of Commitment: 1 month minimum Time Involvement: 1 hour per week (minimum) Position Summary: Responsible for accurately shelving several library formats and subject areas of the Library, plus performing general support work in the Page Unit. Major Responsibilities: Puts carts in order, shelves fiction books, shelf read and/or shelve carts, and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Must be 14 years of age or older. Must follow direction well. Ability to concentrate and pay attention to detail. Ability to lift books and push carts, bending required. Must be able to work independently after being instructed.
Children's Programming Assistant Department: Children's Department Supervisor: Children's Staff Length of Commitment: 1 month (minimum) Time Involvement: 2 hours a week Position Summary: Assists the Children's Services Staff with a variety of clerical tasks and program preparation. Major Responsibilities: Straightens Children's area. Cleans children's books. Prepares craft materials for various story times. Performs other related duties. Qualifications: Must be 14 years of age.

Position Summary: Create story characters from felt or pellon. These stories will be used during the children's story times here at the library. Major Responsibilities: Using specified sources, the volunteer will decide what method (felt or pellon) to best represent the characters. The volunteer will draw and embellish the character using library-supplied materials, type or photocopy the story, and create a folder to house the pieces. Qualifications: Must be 14 years of age or older. Willingness to volunteer. Interest and experience with crafts.
Summer Reading Program AssistantDepartment: Children's Department | Supervisor: Children's Department Head | Length of Commitment: 8-12 week summer position, beginning mid-May | Time Involvement: Hours to be discussed with applicant |
Position Summary: The assistant will join the children's department staff in implementing their Summer Reading Program for grades K-12. Major responsibilities: Monitors young adult volunteers who will be registering younger children for the Summer Reading Program and performing other kinds of volunteer duties. Hosts and assists with children's programs, including story times and crafts. Assists with the maintenance of the picture book area, including shelving, creating book displays, and designing visual aids. Qualifications: Must be at least eighteen years old. Energetic personality, creative talents, works well with children and their parents, good decision-making skills, some knowledge of children's literature.
