Arts
Council
Meetings:

This
board was formed in 1985 to develop, promote, assist and coordinate
the arts in the Town of Collierville and surrounding areas.
The Board of Aldermen, jointly with the Mayor, has appointment
authority to this council. Membership
on this council totals 12 people. Terms of office expire December
31st of each year.
Board
of Assessment
Meetings:
Scheduled as necessary.
Among other duties, the Commissioners will: (1) view each property located within
the Central Business Improvement Districts and determine the amount of the assessment
to be levied upon each property within the Districts according to the benefit
conferred by the improvements to be made within the Districts; (2) ascertain
and award the amount of damages and compensation to be paid, if any, to the owners
of any property that is taken or injured as a result of the improvements to be
made within the Districts; and (3) be reimbursed for the performance of their
duties at a rate to be determined by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen. This
commission was established by adoption of ordinance 2003-13
and 2003-14; per TCA 7-84-101 et. seq. The commission shall
consist of 5 members, none of whom shall own property in CBID
Districts I and II. Terms will be 4 years. The
Mayor has appointment authority with confirmation of Board
of Aldermen.
Beer
Board
Meetings:
Town Hall Chambers (500 Poplar View Parkway) on the third
Tuesday of each month. Meetings are usually "at call."
This
board was formed in 1983, through passage of Ordinance 83-003.
The Beer Board has the power and is directed to regulate the
sale, storage for sale, distribution for sale and manufacture
of beer within the municipality in accordance with the Beer
Ordinance. The board has broad powers of investigation and
has the authority to inspect the premises of any applicant
or permit holder. 2008
Terms
are served for one calendar year, expiring Dec. 31 of each
year (Ordinance 99-28). Officers are elected annually. This
is a 7 member board. The Board of Aldermen, jointly with the Mayor, have appointment authority for this commission. Board
of Zoning Appeals
Meetings:
Town Hall Chambers (500 Poplar View Parkway) at 5pm on the
second Thursday of each month. Meeting
agendas are linked from dates below as they become available.
The
purpose of this board is to hear appeals on the decisions made
by the building inspector in enforcing the ordinance and codes
and hear requests for variances and conditional use permits.
This
5 member board serves for one calendar year with terms
expiring Dec. 31 of each year (ordinance 2001-05). Meetings
are at the call of the chairman with five days of notice.
The Mayor has appointment authority, with confirmation
required by the aldermen.
Construction
Board of Adjustment and Appeals
Meetings:
Scheduled as necessary.
To hear appeals of decisions and interpretations of the building official
and consider variances of the codes. Terms
are for 1 calendar year with terms expiring December 31st of
each year. (Ordinance 2001-05); (Ordinance 2003-12)
Design
Review Commission
Meetings:
Town Hall Chambers (500 Poplar View Parkway) on
the fourth Thursday of each month at 4:00pm. Meeting
agendas are linked from dates below as they become
available.
The
purpose of this board is to ensure that proposed structures
conform to proper design standards and the general character
of the area; reviews all exterior building plans for
all land use categories other than single family detached
residential; reviews final plans for planned unit developments,
fences, signs and landscaping.
There
are seven members who serve one-year termsexpiring Dec.
31 of each year. The Board of Aldermen, jointly
with the Mayor, has appointment authority.
Environmental
Commission
Meetings:
Public Services Building (500 Keough Road)
at 6:30pm on the second Tuesday of each
month. Meeting
agendas are linked from dates below as
they become available.
Purpose:
To advise the Board of Mayor and Aldermen and administration
on environmental issues and to provide the residents of
Collierville with opportunities to improve the quality
of their environment, support the benefits and necessity
of our natural resources, and provide environmental education
to the public. This
commission was created in 2000 and has eight members. Term
appointments are for one year, ending Dec.
31 of each calendar year.
The
Board of Aldermen, jointly with the Mayor, have appointment
authority for this commission.
Historic
District Commission
Meetings:
Town Hall Chambers (500 Poplar View Parkway) at 5pm on the
third Thursday of each month. Meeting
agendas are linked from dates below as they become available. A strike through over a date indicates that no meeting was held due to lack of application.
It is the duty of the Historic District Commission
to preserve historic and/or architectural value; enhance the
Town's historic attractions to tourists; consider the appropriateness
of any new alteration, additions, demolition or exterior
changes visible to public right-of-way and compatibility
to design with the Historic District (including signs); and
to approve or deny certificates of appropriateness on a case-by-case
basis. Seven
members comprise this commission. They serve five-year terms.
Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at 5
p.m. in Town Hall chambers,

Industrial Development Board
Meetings:
Scheduled as necessary.
The
purpose of this board is to acquire, own, lease and dispose of
properties to the end of
promoting industry and develop trade by inducing manufacturing,
industrial, government, educational and commercial enterprises
to locate or remain in this State (Town) and to further the use
of its agricultural products and natural resources. A
9-member board serving staggered 6-year terms (Resolution
2003-03). The
Board of Aldermen, jointly
with the Mayor, has appointment authority.
Parks
and Recreation Advisory Board
Meetings:
Community Center (440 Powell Road) at 6pm on
the second Thursday of each month. Meeting agendas

The
board was formed in 1984. The purpose of this board is:

To plan and promote a system of park and recreation
facilities and recreational programs.

Interpret the community recreation program
and needs to public officials and the general citizenship.

Serve
as a forum in the introduction of innovative new ideas, concepts,
programs, policies and procedures.

Assist in matters relating to the maintaining
of the highest standards in park and recreational leadership
and in the quality of the program service.
-
Assist
the Park and Recreation Department in recruiting voluntary
leadership staff to work with park/recreation programs and
activities.
-
Assist
park/recreation staff in evaluating recreation programs and
activities and in developing program priorities.
-
Review and develop a program of park and recreational
facility and program expansion and forward to the Board of
Mayor and Aldermen.

Develop a long-range recreational plan for
the town and recommend properties and/or facilities
-
To
evaluate and make recommendations to the Board of Mayor and
Aldermen on the maintenance and utilization of all buildings
and physical facilities devoted to park and recreational
programs within the Town.
This
board consists of 9 members serving a term of one calendar
year with terms expiring December 31st of each year (Resolution
99-53). The
Board of Aldermen, jointly with the Mayor, has appointed authority.
Planning
Commission
Meetings:

2008
(As
set forth in Section 13-4-201 through 13-4-309 of the Tennessee
Code Annotated to amendments and supplements and 13-7-201 through
13-7-204 of the TCA and amendments and supplements; and powers
and duties delegated to the Planning Commission by the Mayor
and Board of Aldermen.) There
are nine members who serve one-year terms which expire December
31 of each year (Ordinance 2001-05). The Mayor has sole appointment
authority.
Town
Beautiful Commission
Meetings:

The
purpose of this commission is to enhance and maintain the natural
and man-made beauty of the community; to advise the Board of
Mayor and Aldermen and Planning Commission on matters affecting
the aesthetic and natural beauty within the community. The
current by-laws of the Town Beautiful Commission provides for
up to 15 active members. The term of apointments shall be for
1 year, ending December 31st of each calendar year (Ordinance
99-29).
Public
Library Board
Meetings:
Meetings are the fourth Tuesday of every month in theTown Hall Chambers located at Town Hall. (500
Poplar View Pkwy)
The
purpose of this board is to direct all the affairs of the Library,
including, without limitation: appointing a librarian who shall
direct the internal affairs of the Library and the appointment
of such assistants or employees as may be necessary to ensure
the proper functioning of the Library; accepting donations,
devises, and bequests to be used by it directly for library
purposes; recommending to the Board of Mayor and Alderment
rules and regulations applicable to the operation of the Library;
and shall generally have all necessary power and authority
to manage such Library.
This
Board shall consist of 7 members, with three of the initially
appointed members serving for 1 year, two for 2 years and two
for 3 years; at the completion of such initial terms, their
successors shall serve for terms of 3 years. Election of officers
held annually. This Board was established by Resolution 2004-36
on July 12, 2004.
The
Board of Aldermen, jointly with the Mayor, has appointment
authority.
