Hometown Hero Award

The Hometown Hero award was started by Mayor Linda Kerley in October of 2001. The award is designed to honor individuals in the community who give their time and effort to help others. Often, these people go unrecognized. Mayor Kerley wanted to shed light on those who serve others.

Nominate a Hero
You can nominate a hero by sending an e-mail description of the person and what he or she has done in the community.

First Hometown Hero
The town's first-ever "Hometown Hero" award was presented to Chiane Elam, a young girl who raised $394 to help in the disaster relief following the terrorist attacks on September 11. The money was given to the Red Cross.
