The American Public Works Association selected Collierville’s Public Services Director, Bill Kilp as their 2008 recipient of the Charles Walter Nichols Award for Environmental Excellence. The award was presented on October 13th, during the annual meeting of the Tennessee Chapter of the American Public Works Association.

During his tenure with The Town of Collierville Mr. Kilp has led efforts to improve water and wastewater services for the present and future. He provided the project leadership for the Northwest Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion which is the largest project in Collierville’s Capital Infrastructure Improvement Program, a program that won the 2008 TCMA Award for Excellence in Municipal Management earlier this year.

The Northwest Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion will give the Town of Collierville the ability to collect and treat the projected wastewater flows for 15 and 30-year planning periods. This new plant will increase the capacity at the Northwest plant from 3 million gallons of wastewater per day to 6 million gallons.
