Johnson Park Receives Arboretum Designation
Monday, 09 February 2009 10:49

The Tennessee Urban Forestry Council and the Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs have granted certification of a Level I Arboretum at Johnson Park in Collierville, following an inspection by representatives of the Tennessee Department of Agriculture and the Tennessee Urban Forestry Council on August 3, 2008. The Arboretum is located along the boardwalk on 135 acres in the natural area of Johnson Park, starting at the parking lot and continuing to the gazebo overlooking the natural lake. A Level I Arboretum must have at least 30 different species of trees that are identified and labeled with both the scientific name and the common name of the tree.

An Arboretum brochure is currently available for download here and will be made available at the Town Library. The brochure will give residents the opportunity to journey through the arboretum on a self-guided tour.
