Collierville Center Connect |

Introduction
In November of 2011, the Town of Collierville submitted a Transportation Enhancement Grant application to TDOT. The project, named "Collierville Center Connect," will upgrade Center Street in six phases over several years. Phase 1 of the Project would cost $946,057.98, and with a 20% local match, that means $756,846.38 of Federal Construction Funds Requested and $189,211.60 would be paid by Collierville. Phase 1 would cover from the intersection of Center Street and South Rowlett to the intersection of South Street. This phase of the project is located in a business/mixed use area and the main emphasis is the separation of pedestrians from parking and vehicle movements and better design and shared marking for bike facilities.
This grant (and the combination of the six planned phases) would improve transportation inadequacies, provide an attractive gateway to the Town Square from TN Highway 385 and US Highway 72, and enhance economic development opportunities for the area. The Town applied for the grant last year, but Collierville was not selected in the latest funding cycle. The governor has complete discretion over Transportation Enhancement Grant applications and a decision is expected in late summer 2012.
